120 Washington Street, 3rd~Floor

Present: Meghann Ackerman, Michael Coleman, Dorothy Haynes, Leslie Limon, Jim Moskovis, Frank Taormina

Introductions: Everyone introduced themselves.

Public comment: Jim Moskovis said there would be a Federal Street fundraiser on Sunday.

Leslie Limon said a neighbor is still having issues with a Franklin Street business. Meghann Ackerman said she could check with the appropriate departments to find out what was going on.

Bike Path: Frank Taormina explained that the City used to focus on off-street bike paths, but now the focus is on making all of Salem bike friendly.

In 1997, the City began work on a bike path that begins in Marblehead and runs along Canal Street; the goal is to link that path to the downtown area and to Swampscott.

Frank Taormina said the MBTA had agreed to a $1/99-year lease that allows Salem to use some MBTA land as part of the bike path. To finish the path, the City will need environmental insurance and rights to additional pieces of land.

Future projects include striping a north-south bike route, using federal funds to install bike racks and starting a bike sharing program with Salem State.

The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
